Outbound Exchanges for Canadians

Group Exchanges

RMISP organizes two-week group exchanges with partner schools in China, Germany and Japan. These short-term group exchanges give Canadian students the opportunity to experience a new country and culture. Students live with a student and their family and may attend school or customized classes.  Group exchanges are chaperoned by an RMISP staff member and participating students must agree to reciprocally host a visiting student.

Group exchange opportunities are offered to different schools in our districts on a rotating basis. Students will be notified of future opportunities through their schools. Participation is limited and selection is based on student grades and work habits, community involvement, past experience as an RMISP host family, and teacher recommendations.

RMISP is always looking for new reciprocal group exchange opportunities with partner schools in more countries around the world.

Individual Exchanges

RMISP is excited to partner with organizations abroad to offer Canadian students an opportunity to live and study in another country for a period of one to six months. Students will be matched with a partner student of the same age and agree to reciprocally host the partner student for the Canadian portion of the exchange. Current opportunities:

French Exchange - Summer

Canadian students will spend the month of July with a French family in the northwest of France (Bretagne, Normandie or Pays de la Loire) near the Atlantic Ocean.  The French partner student will then come to Canada for the month of August. Students will travel to France in a group, but will be placed in different communities throughout the region.

This opportunity is available to students currently enrolled in French Immersion in an RMISP school.  The application process is now closed for Summer 2022.

French Exchange - School-based

Canadian students will live with a French family and attend school. Canadian students will host a French student in the Fall (September to November) and will go to France in the Spring (February to April). Students will travel to France in a group, but will be placed in different communities throughout the northwest region of France (Bretagne, Normandie or Pays de la Loire).

This opportunity is available to students currently enrolled in French Immersion in an RMISP school. The application process is now closed for the 2022/23 exchange year.
