Our host families are an integral part of the International Student Program in School District No. 6. Their active and enthusiastic participation in our program enhances each student's cultural experience and contributes to the maximization of their time in Canada. All host parents have the opportunity to take a specially-designed TESOL workshop to help support the English-language acquisition of their student(s) while at home.
Throughout the year, Homestay Coordinators in each community may organize extra-curricular events and activities for students and their host families on a regular basis. Examples include skating parties, welcome and farewell bar-b-ques, culture nights and local special events.
The Rocky Mountain International Student Program further supports the homestay experience with a comprehensive Experience Schedule designed to ensure all students, regardless of their homestay placement and that family's activity level, will enjoy at least one activity, event, or trip each month they are in Canada.
The School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) International Student Program is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing families who are interested in welcoming international students into their homes. Hosting a student is a rewarding cultural and personal experience. Some of our host families have been participating in our program for over 20 years!
