35th Year Welcoming International Students to the Rocky Mountains

International Student Orientation at Golden Secondary School

Rocky Mountain International Student Program has been welcoming international students to School District 6 for 35 years! While the first fee-paying international students attended Kimberley's Selkirk Secondary School as early as 1981 (41 years ago!), School District 6 formally established the program in 1987 with the assignment of the first International Education employee.

Over the years, RMISP has expanded from Selkirk Secondary School in Kimberley to additional secondary schools within the school district (in Invermere and Golden) and beyond through shared-service agreements with School Districts 5 (Cranbrook, Fernie, Sparwood), 19 (Revelstoke) and 91 (Vanderhoof, Fort St. James and Burns Lake).

For the 2022-23 school year, RMISP will welcome over 200 international students from 16 different countries. We look forward to another great year!
