* Students interested in obtaining the B.C. Certificate of Graduation ("Dogwood Diploma") require a minimum of two years of study in our program and should indicate their interest in graduating in their initial application.

Fees

The Rocky Mountain International Student Program is open to fee-paying students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 level (ages 5 to 18 years). Normally, international elementary students aged 5-12 years (grades K-7) will only be considered if they are accompanied by and live with a biological parent.

Refund Policy

Study Permit Denials, Withdrawals, False or Non-Disclosed Information

Full refund of fees paid (less application and homestay placement fees) if the Study Permit is not approved by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The letter of rejection from IRCC must be provided along with the RMISP refund request form.

Two-thirds (2/3) of fees paid (less application and homestay placement fees) if student withdraws prior to the commencement of the Program (the ‘Program’ is defined as the dates specified on the Official Letter of Acceptance). A complete RMISP refund request form must be received before the Program commences.

One-half (1/2) of the fees paid (less application and homestay placement fees) if the student withdraws after Program commencement but within the first 30 days (the ‘Program’ is defined as the dates specified on the Official Letter of Acceptance). A complete RMISP refund request form must be received no more than one week after the end of the first calendar month.

No refund of fees paid if:

  • the student withdraws after the first 30 days of the Program (dates as specified on the Official Letter of Acceptance);
  • the student is found to be in violation of the law, policy, or regulation as determined by the Government of Canada, police, RMISP, and/or school administrators. Violations may include but are not limited to chronic absenteeism, suspension from school, consumption of alcohol and drugs, significant behavioral issues, and/or failing to abide by the terms and conditions of the International Student Program Legal Agreement;
  • there is false information provided or non-disclosure on the application regarding a student’s perceived learning and/or physical disability, undisclosed learning needs, behavioral concerns, mental health conditions, medical history, and/or criminal history.

All refunds and/or overpayments are subject to a $250 administrative fee

The International Student Handbook has useful information on preparing for your study abroad experience in the School District No. 6 (Rocky Mountain) International Student Program. Please ensure you read it prior to packing. 

Acceptable Use of School District Digital Technology

Students may be granted access to the Internet via School District networks. The purpose for student access to these networks is for educational purposes. Students must use Internet access responsibly and appropriately.

RMISP's affiliated school districts all have a Student Acceptable Use of Digital Technology practice, policy, or procedure. Please select your community to review the applicable policy.

Calgary Airport Shuttle and Designated Airports

RMISP offers a one-day only Calgary Airport shuttle option for students going to Cranbrook, Fernie, Sparwood, Kimberley, Invermere, or Golden (NOT Revelstoke). The RMISP Calgary Airport Shuttle costs $150 each way.

The RMISP shuttle option is only available for the exact dates and times specified above. There will be no exceptions. All other arrivals/departures must use the designated airports in the chart below.

Airport transfer at start/end of program to/from the designated BC airport is included in fees.  Transport at any other time to/from an airport will incur an additional fee of $150 each way.

With the exception of the Calgary Airport Shuttle offered on the specific dates/times listed above, no airport transfer by staff or host families to/from Calgary (YYC) is permitted for any community or any purpose due to legal/insurance reasons. Students are not permitted to arrange private transfers or travel alone.
